Dr. rer. nat. Tobias Leismann studied physics at Heidelberg, Cambridge, UK, and the Technical University of Munich where he received his PhD working as a research associate for the Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics. Before joining the Fraunhofer Institute for High-Speed Dynamics, Ernst-Mach-Institut, EMI, in Freiburg in 2008, Dr. Leismann has been working as a technology consultant for four years. At Fraunhofer, he became executive secretary of the Fraunhofer Group for Defence and Security as well as head of EMI’s business unit Security. In that role, he has coordinated several activities in security research such as the EU-FP7 project COPRA or the Fraunhofer Innovation Cluster Future Urban Security.
Apart from strategic research management, Dr. Leismann’s research interests are security and resilience of aviation, automotive and urban systems.
Since 2015, Dr. Leismann has been deputy director of Fraunhofer EMI and head of the Strategy and Communication Department.
