In July 2015, Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Stefan Hiermaier was appointed professor of Sustainable Systems Engineering at the Faculty of Enineering of the University of Freiburg. As vice dean he coordinates the organization of the Department of Sustainable Systems Engineering (INATECH) at the University of Freiburg.

Prof. Dr. Frank Schäfer is honorary professor at the University of Freiburg. In the context of the bachelor and master programs, he is giving a lecture on “Shockwaves in geomaterials” at the Institute of Earth and Environmental Sciences which is part of the Faculty of Environment and Natural Resources.

Dr. Ivo Häring

In cooperation with the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Freiburg, Dr. Ivo Häring is involved in the project “Open University” (Offene Hochschule) of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). In this context, Dr. Häring is responsible for the development of scientific training opportunities in the field of safety systems engineering resilience analysis. This includes the Certificates of Advanced Studies (CAS) Risk Analysis, Technical Systems, Structural Safety, Resilience Analysis and the development of user tools. At least four out of five CAS with 10 ECTS each are planned to be piloted until the end of 2017. The first two CAS were conducted in 2014 and 2015 on a non-competitive basis.
