In July 2015, Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Stefan Hiermaier was appointed professor of Sustainable Systems Engineering at the Faculty of Enineering of the University of Freiburg. As vice dean he coordinates the organization of the Department of Sustainable Systems Engineering (INATECH) at the University of Freiburg.
Prof. Dr. Frank Schäfer is honorary professor at the University of Freiburg. In the context of the bachelor and master programs, he is giving a lecture on “Shockwaves in geomaterials” at the Institute of Earth and Environmental Sciences which is part of the Faculty of Environment and Natural Resources.
In cooperation with the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Freiburg, Dr. Ivo Häring is involved in the project “Open University” (Offene Hochschule) of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). In this context, Dr. Häring is responsible for the development of scientific training opportunities in the field of safety systems engineering resilience analysis. This includes the Certificates of Advanced Studies (CAS) Risk Analysis, Technical Systems, Structural Safety, Resilience Analysis and the development of user tools. At least four out of five CAS with 10 ECTS each are planned to be piloted until the end of 2017. The first two CAS were conducted in 2014 and 2015 on a non-competitive basis.
Dr. Michael May has lectures at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Freiburg as a part of the Master’s program Sustainable Systems Engineering (SSE) on the topics “Adhesive bonding” and “Composite materials”.
Prof. Dr. Werner Riedel is professor at Furtwangen University (http://en.hs-furtwangen.de/), where he teaches “Protection of Built Infrastructure” (3 ECTS) for students in the specialty of “Security and Safety Engineering”

Prof. Dr. Werner Riedel is teaching as visiting associate professor the courses of “Protection of Built Infrastructures” and “Dynamic Material Behaviour” in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE www.cee.ntu.edu.sg )
Priv.-Doz. Dr. rer. nat. habil. Martin Steinhauser is “Privatdozent” at the University of Basel in the faculty of Science. Since 2013 he is academic teacher in the Department of Chemistry offering a variety of courses on all levels (Bachelor, Master and PhD). He teaches courses on "General Chemistry", "Physical Chemistry", "Electronic Structure Theory", "Monte Carlo Simulations", "Molecular Dynamics Simulations with Applications in Soft Matter" and "Computational Sciences I and II". Additionally, he offers lectures in the Ringvorlesung “Anwendungen Computational Sciences” for beginners and “Advanced Methods in Computational Sciences” within the framework of the PhD program at the University of Basel.
As a visiting associate professor at the University Girona (Universitat de Girona) in Spain, Dr. Michael May gives a lecture about “Dynamics of Materials” which is a part of the Master of Science program in “Mechanics of Materials and Structures” (MMS).
